Coffee Shop & General Store
RE-VIVE were contacted by North Star Coffee Roasters to help them
achieve their mission of getting more people to drink quality, ethically
sourced coffee by expanding their roastery and academy, in
Leeds Dock, to their first coffee shop and general store.
Our brief was to transform the big empty unit next to their roastery into a
retail space that encompassed the ethos, values and character of the North Star
brand. The team have travelled extensively to coffee regions, working alongside
farmers to ensure they are going beyond well-known ‘sustainability initiatives’
when sourcing their coffee, so we really wanted to pay homage, within the interior,
to the locations that they visit regularly and their ethical way of working.
The concept was centred around sustainability and connectivity; how coffee
connects people around the world, from grower to roaster to consumer. To reflect
this, we used native materials such as African Mudcloth and you'll see
shapes from traditional African patterns echoed around the space.
Plus, we used local makers and sustainably sourced or reclaimed wood.
As always, our design was bespoke, tailored and personal to North Star's brand
and their space. We built a new gallery style kitchen to display the culinary
excellence of their team mates, Noisette; a raised snug area for relaxed meetings
or cosy coffee breaks; a transformable storage wall to adapt to their display
products and we even included some fully custom-made stools & branded lighting.
"From the very first meeting we had with RE-VIVE we were blown away with their understanding of what we wanted to achieve with our café space. They managed to interpret a rather complicated brief in a way that perfectly executed everything we had in mind whilst still taking into account the practicalities of the space. Their ability to manage a budget and align the project with our business values was amazing and their commitment could not be faulted – from start to finish they went above and beyond what was expected of them in the interest of the project being brought beautifully to life. We could not be happier with the results and would not hesitate to recommend them."
