BOOKShop & CAFE
RE-VIVE were asked by three awesome lady entrepreneurs to help them
bring their newest business venture to life: The Little Bookshop in Chapel
Allerton, Leeds. The aim was to create an environment where families
and young people can explore and enjoy books. Plus a cafe space that could
serve up wholesome and interesting food for both parents and children.
We were to transform an outdated high street retail unit into a
cosy yet light and fun space that would appeal to varying ages and
genders. We knocked down old partition walls to open up the space
and carefully removed the former outworn suspended ceiling panels to
give extra height to the shop and reveal a beautiful moulded ceiling.
We designed bespoke adjustable shelving systems so that the
displays could adapt depending on the sizes of products being displayed
at any time. And incorporated a bespoke simple point of sale counter
which created a distinction in the divide between the bookshop space
and the cafe area. Then we decided on a statement patterned flooring
to create a talking point and be a distinctive part of their look.
Further bespoke elements include a display cart on wheels
that can be used out of the shop at events, a storage box with
pull-out floor cushions to be used at story time, a new window display
plinth with incorporated bookshelves and reading nooks, plus a
bench seat in the cafe with hidden storage. All upholstery was bespoke
and chosen carefully to match The Little Bookshop branding.
