When looking for new office space in Leeds, Mighty chose to base their new
HQ in Castleton Mill: falling in love with the same original features that
drew RE-VIVE to this former flax mill on the Leeds Liverpool Canal. Having
been beautifully restored, it was key not to take away from these historic
features, which give each of the workspaces so much charm and character.

Mighty needed a workspace that would house 6 members of their team
comfortably, plus a boardroom to suit a variety of uses. As an international
company, the team needed a quiet space for video calls but were keen to
keep an open plan workspace to accommodate different styles of working.

Instead of creating an enclosed meeting room, we chose to use a series
of acoustic curtains that can be pulled open or closed to give the team complete
flexibility in how they use the space. With Yorkshire flagstone floors and tall arched
ceilings, it was vital to consider acoustics and reduce travelling sound.
Muuto’s acoustic ‘Under the Bell’ pendant lights made from recycled plastic
bottles hang over the boardroom table, which sits on a large jute rug.

A bespoke crittall style steel divider with reeded glass panels separates the boardroom
from the client waiting area to ensure that natural light could flow through every part of
the office. The material and colour pallet is raw and organic like the Mighty brand and
products, inserts made from natural cork and linoleum serve as pin boards
so the team can get creative and personalise the space.

The neutral colour scheme draws on the sustainable element of the brand
ethos with subtle pops of colour added to reflect the playful tone in their message;
yellow and blue celebrate their new Leeds location. It was important that they
had a relaxed space in the office too, so we created a laid-back corner with
the use of a Scandi designed chaise sofa and bookshelf planter with a chunky
rug to give that homely feel and zone the area while keeping it open and light.
